The Family in Iceland . . .
...works to bring the joy, love, peace and happiness found in Christ to people of all races, colours and creeds. We try to the best of our ability to help those in need and, in particular, those whose lives are in turmoil for whatever reason and those who feel lost or hopeless. The Bible is the foundation of our faith and happiness, so we hold classes and training sessions for anyone expressing an interest in learning more about the Christianity found in the Bible - the love and dynamic thrills of the Spirit of God living and working in and through men and women.
Many young people, whose lives have been ravaged by drugs - along with which, frequently comes crime - have tried the different solutions offered by the many institutions trying to help them. Sadly, this help is not enough for them to gain permanent relief and a total break from the culture of addiction that pervades this group in society. We do not run drug rehabilitation centres by we do help those who come to us to find a secure love and safe environment to find the solutions to their problems. With a team of dedicated young people and with experienced adults who have worked in a variety of countries for many years, we are able to support these young people seeking a change in their life and help them find a useful role in society. After a period of training, many go back to help their peers.
We need your help . . .
One of our most urgent needs is for translators to enable us to give Icelanders the same material in their own language that is available in English. We need to provide an up-to-date form of Christ's message of love for this generation!
We also need a larger centre to enable us to work more effectively and be able to take in those who need to have a complete break from their former lives to get strengthened and trained. We need a place with sufficent rooms to be able to counsel people privately and without disturbance as well as accomodation for our full-time staff.
We cannot sufficiently express our appreciation and gratitude to the business community, whose help in the form of gifts and supplies, enables us to continue our work full-time. By living in a communal situation, we are able to further reduce our cost of living, but without their help, we couldn't get nearly as much accomplished. It takes a real teamwork to be able to provide the kind of 24/7 service we have to those in need and we always appreciate donations of food, clothing, money and all the items needed to run an organisation efficently in today's society.

The Family believes . . . … that God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, into the world. Those who receive Jesus as their Saviour will go to Heaven when they die. This “salvation” is a gift of God which cannot be earned, only received. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. We believe that we are living in the period that the Bible calls the Last Days. We believe that God still speaks today and will give help, guidance and encouragement if we ask Him. We believe that we should keep the commandments Jesus gave, to “love God” and to “love our neighbour as ourselves” (The Bible, Matthew 22:37-40). |
